"Summer of Steve"?

"Summer of Steve" is simply an assortment of trips & events I like to throw together each Solstice.  This all dates back to 1990 when I started throwing together some ball game trips & pub crawls and, over the years, SOS has continued to evolve.  In 2006,  I had a friend approach me about trying out a do-it-yourself website.  I accepted his request and built this website through his service to keep everyone abreast of SOS happenings and provide a creative outlet for my stupid brand of humor.

The phrase "Summer of Steve" was borrowed from a 1997 Seinfeld episode entitled “The Summer of George”.  In the episode, George Costanza is fired by the New York Yankees at the beginning of Summer but given three month severance pay.  He proclaims the season as the “Summer of George”  and vows to use the time to “taste the fruits and let the juices drip down <his> chin”, including “reading a book from beginning to end- in that order” and playing “frolf” (Frisbee golf).

This classic episode also includes Kramer winning a Tony award then having to fire Raquel Welch, a co-worker of Elaine’s who doesn’t move her arms when she walks, and guys getting all worked up over the thought of a catfight because, as Jerry explains, “The women involved in the catfight might accidentally kiss.”

Have fun perusing the website.  I hope to see you at an upcoming event.
